We have just successfully completed the redesign and build of the Education section of the Met Office website (www.metoffice.gov.uk/education). Working to tight brand guidelines inline with W3C guides, to AA standard. The project was completed in 3 months, to budget and delivered on time – live last week. As well as the web design and build, the task included designing and producing flash animations as teaching aids on the site, and the creation of the Met Office Educational character ‘Weather Explorer,’ to help children in Key Stages 1 & 2 to understand and engage with the material. The work has been very well received by the Met Office team, passing comprehensive usability testing. We are looking forward to working with them again soon!
Search engines exist to provide relevant, useful search results for their users. They are not there to benefit companies who are proficient at optimizing websites. If you think you have thought of a clever way to fool them – forget it. They are not easily tricked and, if they catch you, they will probably ban you. For businesses that depend on leads and enquiries from their websites, this can literally prove fatal.
Designed to encourage young people in the bay to take part in more physical activity, the ‘Fit For the Future’ scheme is off to a flying start. Torbay Council came to us with the aim of recruiting 1000 members into the government subsidised programme, enabling 16-22 year olds to join a gym in their local area for just five pounds a month. An offer this good had to have creative to match, so we set to work and produced a campaign designed to spread the word through leaflets, posters, adshel posters, banners, and even Proximity Marketing! The response from the youth in the bay has been very positive, and we are all confident that the aim of recruiting 1000 members won’t be a problem.
There’s been a lot of media coverage and hype around the West End theatre production of “War Horse”, based on the book by Michael Morpurgo. Several people recommended it to me, so I thought I’d better go and see for myself. To my dismay, it had sold out!
Fortunately it came back by popular demand; this time at the National Theatre. I was not disappointed – the production is magnificent. This play really captures the complex mixture of emotions and the changing fortunes that come with war. The characters are cleverly developed as their paths align themselves, and sometimes collide with, the fate of a cavalry horse, Joey, to which soldiers in both armies become attached. The narrative and characters are both extremely engaging, but it’s the production and particularly the life-sized puppets that truly captivate the audience.
Watch the trailer above or if you get a chance, it really is worth a visit.
From everyone here at DNA, we would like to say a huge ‘thank you’ to those who kindly donated to the Rowcroft Hospice appeal. ‘Yellow Day’ was a fantastic success thanks to your support, and after a top-up from us, the grand total raised was an impressive £700! So thank you for your generosity; we really appreciate it, and we’re certain Rowcroft will put to good use.
We never shy away from progress here at DNA, so when we heard about ‘twitter’ everyone in the office was officially intrigued. Twitter, as I’m sure you’ll know, is a social networking and micro-blogging service that allows its users to send and read other users’ updates (known as tweets). As excited as we are, never fear, we will not be abandoning all other forms of communication for a tweets alone, it’s just a bit of fun. Check our page out for yourself at http://twitter.com/dnaadvertising, and you’ll get an insight into what really goes on in the DNA office. Even better, create your own account and we can tweet to our hearts’ content! Happy tweeting.
Yes that’s right, as part of our ‘Go Yellow Day’ for Rowcroft Hospice and in a bid to get some last minute donations, resident Iron Man (Jon) was sponsored to travel home by public transport sporting his full outfit. With last minute donations coming in and hitting our online target of £200, there was no getting out of it. Thank you to everyone for their support and enjoy the pictures! Remember, you can still donate at www.justgiving.com/dnaadvertising.
With time running out, we’re urging everyone for their donations and have taken to the streets of Torquay in the hope of creating awareness of the Rowcroft Hospice ‘Go Yellow’ Campaign. Iron Man has even revealed his secret identity for the cause! The dare to Jon (in the Iron Man suit) is to travel home by public transport in his outfit… However, we need to get the ONLINE total to at least £200 on http://www.justgiving.co.uk/dnaadvertising before the day is out! You know what to do!
